- Lecture on levels of strategic planning, major challenges in setting supply objectives and strategies, strategic planning in supply management, risk management, strategic components.
- Discussion 1: Supply Strategic Planning. Students will respond to the following:
o Describe and explain three (3) types of data and documentations needed for creating a supply strategy plan or for updating an existing supply strategic plan.
o Explain why these data and documentations are particularly important and crucial.
o Explain how risks could be reduced and/or managed by integrating these data and documentation collected for your organization or based on your experiences.
- Lecture onobjectives of supply management, organizational structures for supply management, organizing the supply group, supply activities and responsibilities, supply teams.
- Discussion 2: Supply Organization. Students will respond to the following:
o Evaluate the authors statement of “It is generally believed that high-performing, cross-functional teams will get better results on the task, …”?
o Describe your reasons of whether you agree or do not agree with the statement.
o Discuss how you would manage a high-performing, cross-functional team.
o If outside suppliers are part of the team, what other steps might you take to protect your company’s intellectual property in addition to a confidentiality agreement?
· Week 2 Quiz
Students are to take the Week 2 quiz that covers the materials in Chapter 1. The quiz is located in the course shell under the Week 2 tab. This is an open book, timed quiz that can only be taken once with a time limit of one hour. The quiz consists of ten multiple-choice questions with each question worth 6 points for a total of 60 points for this quiz.
Online students are to complete the quiz by Monday 9:00 a.m. On-ground students are to complete this quiz before the Week 2 class meeting.
