The result of the Orientation the Residency experience has enhanced the motivation of the goals for pursuing a doctoral education to become a scholarly executive leader in education and other fields. The purposes of the meeting were to become more informed about the program courses overviews and the anticipated outcomes associated with obtaining the doctoral degree.

The approach to explain the value and associated responsibility of pursuing a doctoral education to someone unfamiliar with doctoral education will be to give full details of what the objectives and goals that have been established to be initiated. The objectives of gaining an understanding about how the elements of Walden University can merge to give directions to achieving the degree.

The three distinguishing behaviors and practices of a doctoral student identifiable  and related to development are , learn how to participate in the process, attend all residencies to understand the competencies associated with professionals at the doctoral level, and gaining and understanding of improving academic  objectives,  skills , knowledge  and advice of an advisor to reach the end point.

In what ways can you ensure responsibility for your own learning during your doctoral education? What support do you know you will need in order to succeed?



1. Attend all session during the Residency. Understand what it means to be a scholar. Learn to demonstrate critical thinking, high order of thinking to form an objective from an analysis of research that has been read.

2. Ask for academic advising. Understanding the functions of Course-base, KAMs, and Mixed Model format of learning. Become a Steward of knowledge by enhancing the individual needs for survival. Conserve useful ideas from the past for the benefits of improving the existing outcomes.

Write a brief assessment of your current writing and library research skills and list 2 strategies learned from writing and library research seminars that you can apply to your next quarter/semester coursework.

The brief assessment of writing and library research skills with two strategies learned from writing and library research seminars that can be applied to the next quarter/ semester course work involves being able to distinguish between scholarly research and other forms of research. The second strategy is to exhibit the ability to evaluate research topics for doctoral research. The both are able to be used in the next quarter /semester coursework.

Writing strategies:
1. Distinguish between scholarly research, scholarly writing, and other types of research.

2. Ability to evaluate research topics for doctoral research.  Argumentation, incorporating sound logical fallacies and persuasive rhetorical.
The assessments of my Library skills are competent for finding and evaluating information at the doctoral level. These skills include the understanding of the components of the research process to actually locate peer-reviewed articles and other scientific literature. Show the ability to engage in critically with critical analysis, demonstrate critical engagement with knowledge in the field of study and able to complete paraphrasing by restating the content in one’s own words.
